Night in the City

An illustration based off the musical film “Guys and Dolls” featuring the night city.

I researched the companies like “Pepsi Cola” and “Chevrolet” during the 1950’s and replicated the typography to match the illustration. All the text and typography were hand drawn in Photoshop and Illustrator.

I made the night lighting of this illustration orange and warm tones because that’s where all the neon signs are on the buildings. In the distance you see cooler blues and darker silhouettes. This creates a color variation to the piece while still bringing a good contrast of this specific street in New York City.
